Sports and Fitness: Spring & Summer Running

Our running editor, Mary Darling, just completed the Virgin London Marathon six weeks ago!  We asked Mary to pick her go-to spring/summer
running gear to get us all in shape for the "bikini" season.

Here are her
reports from the UK and running tips: "It was a beautiful day in
London, rare as the weather in the UK can be tricky.  Finishing the marathon on the Mall up to Buckingham Palace is incredible!  The runners were out in full force
with many costumes, Batman, Tinkerbell, and this year I had Superman
pass me at mile 21!  The Brits were out in full force for a wonderful
day.
The Nike Vapor Jacket is the perfect jacket for spring.  Light and
breathble with great ventillation, it is perfect for breezy days and the
water repellant treatment makes it ideal for warm rain showers.  Nike's
jog-bra tops
are great!  They provide coverage without too much
fabric for warmer days and races.  They come in a rainbow of colors
too. Saucony Women's Lux Short feels great and moves comfortably
with your body as you run, instead of bunching or riding up. The Saucony
Kinvara sneaker
is a feather light running shoe and is designed for
neutral runners or those who do not need stability or posting.  The
flexible upper body and breathable mesh make it ideal for summer.  Last
but not least, Garmin's latest GPS watch, the Forerunner 110, has
hit the shelves!  The watch size makes it perfect for women- I love the
grey/pink color combo as it is not too girly."

Clockwise: Nike Vapor Running Jacket ($100), Nike Running Sport Top (on SALE $22.99), Saucony Run Lux Short (on SALE $16.99), Garmin Forerunner 110 Sport Watch ($249.99), Saucony Kinvara Running Shoe ($89.99)

Mary's coach, John Henwood, is organizing coaching classes and programs from "The Running Company", located at 1059 Third Avenue in NYC, please stop by and sign up or go to John's website.
