A few weeks ago we had such a treat getting a private tour viewing the Japan Fashion Now exhibition at The Museum at FIT with FIT Director and Chief Curator, Valerie Steele, and head of the FIT Couture Council, Liz Peek. Japan Fashion Now opened on September 17 and has been extended till April 2- it is not to be missed. The concisely curated exhibition reveals how the Japanese fashion revolution during the 1980′s transformed the world of fashion. For a more detailed description of Japan Fashion Now scroll down and take a video-tour with FIT Director and Chief Curator, Valerie Steele. What the Chairs Wear: Power of Women Awards Luncheon
Posted By: KK on 02/22/11 8:38 AM | Categories: What the Chairs Wear
The Fifth Annual Power of Women to Make a Difference Awards Luncheon is hosted on Thursday, February 24 by Women United in Philanthropy, an initiative of United Way of New York City, to raise to funds to address critical issues affecting our cities most vulnerable youth. This prestigious event, held at Cipriani Wall Street will also pay tribute to New York City’s most dedicated women working to make a difference in the lives of these children. For this gathering of the power-hitters from every sector, we chose a shapely Theory suit in a shade that is perfect now and in upcoming warmer weather, added a patterned punch with a lively DVF Blouse and a pop of color with this great Rebecca Minkoff bag. The earrings are fittingly from Joan Hornig’s Philantrophy is Beautiful Jewelery Line where profits from your purchase will go to the charity of your choice. For tickets and information about getting involved, please contact Jessica Luna at womenunited@thejfmgroup.com. For a list of the 2011 Honorees and Sponsors, please see below.

Fall 2011 New York Fashion Week has come to an end and we had the most amazing time, this week’s Shop the Street Style Video features some of our fave moments. W2WW and Fashion Editor, Hilary Dick, have been heading to all the shows to figure what we will be wearing in Fall 2011. From checking out the Chinese influenced and ever-so-elegant looks at Ralph Lauren, complete with model strutting down the runway to a soundtrack which included a cover of “China Girl.” Even though we missed the Westminster Dog Show, it seemed not to matter as Isaac Mizrahi’s whimsical dresses were paired with dip-dyed poodles and cakes to match, custom made by the Cake Boss. Followed by the perfect end to such a busy week with Naheem Khan’s wonderfully beautiful collection, which literally brought tears to our eyes. Mix all that with a bit of Johnny Weir, Andy Cohen, Veronica Webb and some chic Street Style ladies- we could not ask for more.

What to Wear: Spring Skirts and How to Wear Them
Posted By: KK on 02/18/11 12:24 PM | Categories: What to Wear
We love these springtime party skirts – just slip one on and you will see why; they are fun, flirty and very ladylike. We have chosen a bouquet of florals to wear now and straight into the warmer months. They are perfect to wear to work, to a ladies lunch or out for a day of shopping. What makes these skirts so flattering is that the waistline is pleated, not gathered, so the effect is actually slimming. To get the best out of the look, wear it with either a body suit like these Wolfords (an investment but worth every penny) or try one of the Yummie Tummie tops with the built-in slimming panel – thank you very much! To complete the look, add a shortest cardigan (hits just above the hip) in a complementary shade, like these from Nordstroms that are so well-priced you can pick a couple. To accessorize the look slip on a pair of Feminine Spring Pumps and try a purse from our Brightly Hued Bags collection. It is a really classic go-anywhere look that we can see the stylish Kate Middleton wearing to one of her many charity appearances with her dashing Prince William.

What to Wear: Feminine Spring Pumps
Posted By: KK on 02/18/11 12:10 PM | Categories: What to Wear
If you want our fashion advice on buying (at least) one pair of shoes for spring, make it these ultra-flattering platform pumps. What girl doesn’t need a little lift! They were everywhere at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Rather than the heavy handed look of some platform shoes, these are light and feminine. They will go equally well with skirts, dresses and slacks and can take you from the office to a dinner out with great style. Remember when you click through our site to shop, 25% of our profit will be donated to organizations that help women and children and the environment. For more great looks from the shows, take a peek at our MBFW Shop the Street Style Video.

What to Wear: Mary Kate Steinmiller Fashion Week
Posted By: KK on 02/16/11 2:47 PM | Categories: What to Wear
Our talented young friend and TEEN VOGUE’S Fashion Market Editor, Mary Kate Steinmiller answered our question of What to Wear to Fashion Week?
“I’m relying on a stash of colored layered J.Crew cashmere sweaters and print Equipment shirts worn with, colorful skirts from Peter Som, Jason Wu, DVF, Chanel and Celine. A mix of my favorite go-to platform heels from Miu Miu and Prada and Lanvin and Chloe boots. Will be rotating between my leopard print Lanvin “happy” bag and my camel Celine cross body bag. We interpreted her vision with this Erdem floral skirt that is the harbinger of spring and added some accessories in neutral shades that can be worn now and right through spring. We are in love with this DVF Margee Trench Coat which is a seasonal must-have!

What to Wear: Anne Grauso Fashion Week
Posted By: KK on 02/16/11 2:39 PM | Categories: What to Wear
Our stunning fashion friend and student of the arts, Anne Grauso answered our “What to Wear to Fashion Week?” question. “Vera Wang has rockin’ boots and platforms that will withstand the ice, snow and slush as I zip around between art school and fashion events. Black, or colored tights keep me warm in my transitional short spring skirts and dresses, and add a modern dimension. Bright bags, and accessories, like those from Prada, Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Dior, YSL…spice up your winter darks. Layering on sweaters, light coats, and boleros, some with hoods, all short in length…like Prada, Giles Mendel, Dennis Basso, Vera Wang, Marni, Stella McCartney for Addidas…and wearing long gloves with a 3/4 sleeve, instead of one big heavy coat. Happy Fashion Week!” We had so much fun shopping for Anne’s inspired looks. Found these Wolford “Satin de Luxe” Tights at Bloomingdales – they were the legs of choice for Anna Wintour and her daughter Bee Shaffer at the tents last Wednesday, at the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Fashion Show.
