What to Wear: Bastille Day

Posted By: KK on 07/6/11 6:54 AM | Categories: What to Wear

Where will you celebrate La Fête Nationale?  The next best thing to Bastille Day in France is the annual fete put on by Michele and Patricia Jean at Stissing House in Pine Plains, New York on Sunday, July 10.  It is well worth the drive to experience the authentic celebration complete with a lively Petanque Tournament, bottomless glasses of rosé and traditional Provencal fare.  The festivities begin at noon and reservations are required.  For further information please call t. 518.398.8800 Here are two perfect summer outfits  from Bergdorf Goodman, all keeping the chic bleu, blanc, rouge theme.  We like the lines of this long skirt, fitted to be flattering and keeping the top simple.  The soft ‘peasant top’ is one of our favorites especially when paired with crisp white jeans, the staple of a chic summer wardrobe.  Click here to see more Red, Whites and Blues selections.

Bastille Day is the French national holiday which is celebrated on 14 July of each year. In France, it is formally called La Fête Nationale (The National Celebration) and commonly le quatorze juillet (the fourteenth of July). It commemorates the 1790 Fête de la Fédération, held on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789; the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille fortress-prison was seen as a symbol of the uprising of the modern nation, and of the reconciliation of all the French inside the constitutional monarchy which preceded the First Republic, during the French Revolution.  From Wikipedia.

What to Wear: Style Wimbledon

Posted By: KK on 07/3/11 8:52 AM | Categories: What to Wear

While waiting for the Men’s Finals at Wimbledon 2011 to begin we checked in with our Fashionable Friend, Ferebee Taube who reported from Center Court on spectacular, spectator style.   “The day I was there I noticed so many girls wearing long, flowy maxi skirts with tanks and cute jackets.  Flat sandals . . . definitely no heels, as it rained while we were there.  And lots of hats, of course!   The look was effortless and casual . . . perfect for sitting courtside.”   We went shopping at Ralph Lauren for an interpretation of this look and chose a flowing paisley skirt of a shorter length, paired it with a chic  linen blazer (on SALE).   This look is simply smashing for summer travel whether it takes you courtside, poolside or seaside.
