HELP USA is our designated charity for the month of November and we are looking forward to the Annual HELP USA Scholarship Awards Luncheon, which supports survivors of domestic violence taking place Monday, November 28th at the Pierre Hotel. The Luncheon will be hosted by Ann Curry, Marcia Gay Harden, and Deborah Roberts and Chairman of the Board, Maria Cuomo Cole. We were thrilled to have the pleasure of meeting Paola Bay, the fabulous designer behind Zoraide,  a line of luxury shoes, hand-made by Italian artisans.   W2WW Fashion Editor, Hilary Dick caught up with Paola at the Hunt Slonem Studio and asked her about the inspiration behind the new Spring and Summer 2012 Zoraide Collection. It is  so vibrant and full of  joie de vivre – sexy and sophisticated as well.   Aptly named Disco Divas, the collection celebrates a Studio 54 and  Warhol Factory vibe, but we don’t want to give it all away.  Watch the video to boogie on!

In case you missed our What the Chairs Wear column in the November Issue of Quest Magazine.

On Wednesday, November 16th the  well-travelled chairs of The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center‘s Associates Committee,  Allison Aston, Cynthia Smith, Ferebee Taube, and Eleanor Ylvisaker along with their generous sponsor,  Munnu/The Gem Palace are transforming the Four Seasons Restaurant into the magically vibrant city of Jaipur, India  for its Annual Fall Party and most exotic event of  the season.    Founded in 1946, The Society MSKCC is a volunteer organization that develops and funds programs that enhance patient care, support cancer research, and provide public education on the prevention, early detection, and treatment of cancer.  For information  please contact Leelee Brown 212.639.7222.

All proceeds from the evening benefit The Pediatric Family Housing Endowment, for which The Associates Committee has pledged to raise $2 million in five years.  This fund pays for overnight stays at special nearby accommodations when children and their families come from out of town for treatment at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center’s renowned Pediatric Department and are unable to afford this expense.

Cecil Beaton: The New York Years brings together extraordinary photographs, drawings, and costumes by Beaton to chronicle his impact on the city’s cultural life. Beaton’s relentless energy and curiosity spurred him to pursue new fields, from fashion and portrait photography to costume and scenic design for Broadway, ballet, and opera, and to put his own aesthetic stamp on each of these endeavors.

The ASPCA Annual Humane Awards Luncheon, hosted by NBC news anchor Chuck Scarborough, will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2011, at The Pierre.  The event is chaired by an illustrious group of animal lovers, including our fabulously friend Fernanda Kellogg. Jill Fairchild’s Closet: Mix Master

Gone are the days of dressing in a single designer head to toe. Borrr-ing! (Okay, except perhaps for a Chanel suit, and even Karl Lagerfeld has shown the jacket with a simple pair of jeans.)

Today it’s all about being In the Mix – and I’m not talking only about clothes, but that’s a whole other story. For now, let me stick to fashion. What’s more fun than trawling shops to find a fabulous top to go with a pair of designer pants or a skirt? Or that great jacket that goes with everything? Or a flea market necklace that looks fantastic with a designer blouse?

And what’s better than finding that inexpensive top that mixes with a designer something – and that all your friends (and, better, your rivals) think cost twice as much as it did?  Trend watchers call it “masstige,” taking something from H&M, Zara or even Target and wearing it with Ralph Lauren, Joseph or Chloe. And, again, Karl Lagerfeld is right on trend – he’s just announced a new collection called Karl that will launch in January and will be sold only online, beginning with Net-a-Porter.

I know I’ll check it out right away because I’ve always enjoyed mixing it up. Take my latest find: a BCBG vest that cost $185 and that everyone I meet admires and thinks is real fur costing 10 times as much. It goes with everything – and from day to night. Love it (and not just because of the price, although that helps).

So if you’re not already, mix it up. That’s the fun of fashion. Now I’m off to hunt for my next bargain.
