Our friends have asked us for a Packing List for their African Safari this summer. It is a truly unique and unforgettable experience – some say life changing – and we agree. Our advice on how to dress for a safari is based on the colors of the landscape: khaki, neutrals and greens. But before you go shopping, look in your closet for your favorite khakis and and shirts – we like the chic mix-and-match look. And your adventure in the bush will take place from dawn ’til dusk, so dress in layers for the broad range of temperatures; it can be quite chilly before dawn and after sunset and very hot midday. Scroll down to see a complete packing list.
We went to our favorite source for Safari Wear, Ralph Lauren, to find just the right pieces to keep you covered, and many of them are on sale.
Love both of these vests for layering.
Suede and Leather are terrific for Safari.
Add a selection of simple shirts.
Take one of each and you will be covered.
Grab a tote for holding your layers, water and a camera. A hat is essential for the heat of the day and the wrap comes in so handy for an extra bit of warmth.
