Travel: Airport Security Lines
Posted By: KK on 11/22/10 5:44 PM | Categories: Travel
Here’s an age-old question for the upcoming busy travel season: What to wear in the airport security line? Pat Down or body scan – the choice is all yours – the trick is to be stylish yet comfortable and ready to kick off your shoes at a moment’s notice. These grey Tory Burch shoes have a good heel and go wonderfully with J. Crew’s Stretch Minnie Pants. Somehow always set off the metal detectors? Try a simple tank with a built-in bra, and even better, Flying Pasties that protect your privacy no matter how high-tech the airport screeners may be! A simple cardigan and scarf or wrap with a roomy bag complete your look. While the airport security line might always remain a bore, at if you know what to wear, the whole process might go just a little bit more smoothly. Scroll down for more advice on How to Pack for the Plane. Just be kind to the trusty TA people – they are doing their jobs to keep us safe. Happy Thanksgiving!.

Travel: Paris Fashion Week
Posted By: KK on 09/29/10 12:23 PM | Categories: Travel
To celebrate Paris Fashion Week, we went on a French-frenzied shopping spree at Net-a-Porter to find the most fabulous French fashions from our favorite designers. We thought about what to wear and came up with this stylish knit from Catherine Malandrino that fulfilled our fantasy of great style and comfort. To be ever more organized, we checked the Parisian weather and found some naughty rain showers on the scene; we will dress for the damp weather with this gorgeous Sonia Rykiel Trench paired with the See by Chloe Wellies that will keep you dry (not to mention more comfortable!) while running to and from Les Beaux Arts, the Tuileries and everywhere in between. Stash your classic Louboutin slingbacks (also good for staying above puddles) in this stylish Chloe Tote and you’re good to go! Under it all, feel like a fabulous French woman in these saucy knickers from Agent Provocateur.
For more info on Paris Fashion Week go to Style.com - and even better, if you find yourself lucky enough to be in the city of lights during this momentous week, don’t forget to check out our favorite Parisian experts at Girls’ Guide to Paris.

Travel: Nina Griscom and What to Wear on Safari
Posted By: KK on 09/22/10 11:58 AM | Categories: Travel
Our friend and adventuress, Nina Griscom, is leaving on a fantastic African holiday led by the Africa Foundation and has asked us what to wear on safari. The mission of the Africa Foundation is to assist in the protection of Africa’s wilderness by empowering people living in or adjacent to protected areas by forging unique partnerships between conservation initiatives and communities. For more information, please visit AfricaFoundation.org.
With Safari on our minds we headed to Ralph Lauren in search of earthy tones and found quite the selection. We love it so much that we know these pieces will not only outfit you for your trip, yet will be worth the investment as will be perfect for fall attire as well.
Left to Right: RL Houndstooth Jacket (on SALE $149.99), RL Stretch Jodphur ($89.50), Hats in the Belfry Crushable Safari Hat ($38), RL Leather Vest ($498.00), RL Cotton Tote ($298), RL Ankle Boot ($149), RL Aviators ($230), RL Riding Boot ($198), RL Stretch Poplin Shirt ($145), RL Jeans ($89.50)
Safari temperatures tend to vary, from chilly mornings and evenings when the wildlife viewing is best, yet can get quite hot during midday. Weather highs average in the 80′s while the lows can be in the 50′s, which is why we suggest dressing in layers and taking plenty of them. Start your look off with this fabulous belted houndstooth jacket, as the climate changes you can sport this leather vest and finally this stretchy poplin shirt! Pair with cotton trousers, such as these stretch jodphurs or jeans as the fabric breathes and the hint of stretch is ideal for walking. We suggest either a riding or ankle boot depending on the terrain, as it is important to cover your ankles in case of snakes! Carry all your gear in this very durable yet chic tote. Don’t forget to take a wrap that can double as a scarf and this crushable hats in the belfry crushable safari Head to our Safari Page for more attire and for a complete Safari Packing List.

Travel: End of Summer on Martha's Vineyard
Posted By: KK on 08/24/10 1:42 PM | Categories: Travel

Late August and into the fall is the perfect time for a get-a-way to Martha’s Vineyard. This laid back retreat is all about the escape. No wonder Presidents Clinton and Obama have made it their #1 Summer Destination. But the Islanders are way too cool to care about celebs – the raison d’etre here is the rugged coastline, miles of beaches, and the invigorating salt air. Whether you are an old salt or new to the sport, you must fish, especially decked out in our ready made outfit, complete with travelrod, insect repelent bandana and dry gear bag that will make you look like a pro.
If you want to feel like a local on the Vineyard, check into the Beach Plum Inn or Menemsha Inn & Cottages. You will be in the hands of the Bob and Sarah Nixon, who will happily arrange all of your activities from meals at the legendary Homeport Restaurant to fishing charters with the best captains on the Eastern Seaboard. And if you are really lucky, Uncle Bob may show you his “secret spots” so make sure to pack you Vineyard Vines Nor’Easter Jacket for optimal casting in the surf. Don’t forget the Martha’s Vineyard Fishing Derby taking place from September 12 to October 16.
